Electrical Testing is born
A former SAP within London Electricity, Alan Hobbs founded Electrical Testing and invented the patented dipstik®. With in-house client reporting software and a team of electricians he trained himself, the business grew from strength to strength.
One of the first NERS accredited ICPs
We became one of the first Independent Connection Providers to gain NERS status, and created ICP Solutions to train our own staff into highly skilled jointers. The same year, our Switch To Safety initiative was recognised by the HEA.
Training our people, then yours
Managing director Simon Hobbs created ETL Training so we could train our own staff to the very highest standards. Its success led us to train our clients’ staff too, and today we are the only government approved Highway Electrical Apprenticeship provider.
The leading testing house in street lighting
Just over sixty staff serve local authorities and contractors across Great Britain, with 14 jointing and civils crews in the South East and approval across the full scope of LV activity, including design.
Every day an accident-free day
Working across the UK’s highways puts our operatives at risk, so our systems, training, PPE and attitude are all geared towards keeping them safe. Our Switch To Safety initiative was recognised by the HEA in 2011, and we have kept going since, through toolbox talks, supervision and client engagement.
Software written in-house, for you
Every office and site application is written by our own IT department, so we can create and adapt software to suit our clients’ needs. Our latest platform, AMP, gives clients instant, live access to test results, photos, mapping and certification.
